Friendly Letter

  

A friendly letter includes five basic parts:

Heading, Greeting, Body, Closing, and Signature

 

  1. Heading: Includes the date and the address of the person sending the letter.

  2. Greeting: The salutation (Dear ________)

  3. Body: your message

  4. Closing (closing words: Sincerely, Love, Yours truly, etc)

  5. Signature: Your name, handwritten

Worksheets/File Folder Activities

 

File Folder Activity: Match the "parts of a letter" cards to actual parts of a letter.

 

Worksheet version of the above activity

 

Place the "parts of a letter" cards in the correct place on a letter.

 

Using information from a letter, write what the date, greeting, body, closing, and name are.

Rubric/Checklist

Use a rubric as an assessment tool (to evaluate student's work). In addition, it can be used by student to ensure that he has done the assignment correctly.
