Sample Homeschooling Math Routines to help structure your math period
Kindergarten
1. Skill building/review (flashcards, worksheets, games, or quiz)
· Numeral dictation
· Shapes review
· Sequencing
· Comparison (greater than/less than)
· Simple math facts
· Write numbers 1 – 10 (or 20) in order daily
· Calendar activities (days of the week, seasons)
2. Review previous lesson’s material briefly
3. New material
4. Practice (worksheet, game, etc)
5. Wrap Up
First Grade
1. Math facts review (drill/timed test, flashcards, or game)
2. Review previous material/basic concepts (review deck or game); calendar activities
3. New material
4. Practice
5. Wrap Up
Second/Third Grades
1. Math facts timed test ( timed_test_addition.pdf, timed_test_subtraction.pdf )
2. Review previous concepts with a homemade Math Flashcard/Activity Card Deck; calendar activities
3. Review previous lesson’s concepts briefly
4. New Material
5. Practice
6. Wrap Up
7. Assign independent practice (aka Homework)
Note: Drills, review, and calendar activities can be carried out at another point in the day, if desired
